Timorese Catholic University (UCT) is a private university that belongs to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Dili, Timor-Leste, founded in the year of Saint Joseph, 2021, by the Archbishop of Dili through Decree No. 14/2021 of December 6^th. The University, which is dedicated to St. John Paul II, was formally launched by the Prime Minister of VIII Constitutional Government His Excellence Taur Matan-Ruak and H.Em Virgílio Cardinal do Carmo da Silva, SDB Archbishop of Dili on December 8^th, 2021  based on Ministerial Dispatch of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture no. 166/GM/MESCC/XII/2021 of December 3^rd that attributes operational license to UCT.
